It is advisable to contact a lawyer in the initial stages, even before negotiations begin - to examine all aspects of the transaction, including conducting a planning, physical and legal inspection of the property, examining the potential for improvement, checking the amount of taxation on the transaction and the applicability of exemptions, and so on.
The improvement levy is a tax imposed when a planning procedure is carried out that increases the value of the land by way of plan approval, easement, or exceptional use. Payment is required when the rights are exercised – for example, when selling or issuing a building permit or commencing use.
